One of the events in Iran's contemporary history is the occupation of the northern regions of Iran by the Soviet Union during the Second World War and the creation of a foundation for the promotion of Communist ideas in these regions. The inherent contrast of Islamic thoughts with the ideology of communism created the grounds for the encounter of religious forces with the left movement in these regions. This research tries to investigate the confrontation of religious forces with the left currents in the northern regions of Iran, and to deal with the typology of this confrontation and the factors affecting it. Analyzing the issue of why, how, and under the influence of what factors the confrontation between the Islamist currents and the pro-Soviet leftist currents in the north of Iran took place? This is the main question of the upcoming research. The findings of the research show that the religious currents of the northern regions of Iran, due to factors such as distance and proximity to the centers of power, the type of conception of Islam, as well as the geographical, religious and cultural location of these regions, faced the leftist ideas with two negative and positive approaches.The interactive and confrontational actions of these currents challenged the spread of leftist ideas in the northern regions of Iran and as an effective factor prevented this discourse from prevailing in the Iranian society. This research uses descriptive-analytical approach and historical method and data collection is based on library and documentary studies
