Despite advances in archaeology and associated research over the recent decades, the place of “historical archaeology”, as one of the pioneering branches in this field, has not been prominent in historical studies about Iran. Without doubt, the old fabric of Tehran can be considered as the cradle of many important historical events over the recent centuries. One of the parties that appeared in Iran’s political arena on 4th June 1950 was the so-called "Iranian Community of Piece Advocates". Headquarter of the party, known as “the House of Peace”, was destroyed and forever abandoned during the chaos resulting from the Communist party uprising on 6th December 1951. However, no historical source has any record of the exact location of this house.
Following the restorations and revitalization of the historic parts of Tehran, and in order to recognize the destroyed units, extensive archaeological excavations were carried out in one of the most famous historical parts of Lalehzar Street (Khaneh-ye Ettehadieh). During the restoration and excavations of 2015 in this place, a demolished building was found that, based on the slogans and writings on the walls, seems to be the once-lost House of Peace. The present study tries to provide an account of the discovery of mentioned building, in order to answer the question of how historical archaeology can uncover new evidences about historical events.
