Abstract

The famine caused by the First World War in the years 1915-1919 AD/1294-1298 AH covered almost all of Iran, which was later called the Great Famine. In recent years, several articles and research works have been written on this matter, each of which has addressed aspects of the great famine and its causes and contexts in the geography of Iran. But what has been less discussed so far; is the issue of disruption in the transportation network by Russia; the British and the Ottoman. With the arrival of foreign military forces in every state and region, the first food sources faced a price increase; Then the beasts of burden and means of transportation were seized and confiscated and used by foreigners, and communication with other places was cut off. The next stage was the relentless famine. without being able to receive help from neighbors; Because they did not have carts, four-wheelers, horses, and mules. In explaining the causes of famine, confiscation of mule caravans; Camels, and horses was the only means of transporting food; as an effective factor in famine and mortality; It has been neglected.

This research seeks to rely on documents that represent the role of Russia and the Ottoman in disrupting the transportation network and draw the reader's attention to the importance of this issue in causing the Great Famine.
