Abstract

Endowment as a social phenomenon has been prevalent since ancient times and with the arrival of Islam in Iran, especially since the officialization of Shiism in the Safavid period and with the support of the kings of this dynasty, it has increased in size and variety until Reza Shah came to power. . Many men and women dedicated a part of their property with religious and pious intentions. But as a result of the anti-religious policies of Reza Shah, who approved the law of endowments in 1313, which was one of them, there were changes in the status of endowments, including women's endowments. The current research aims to use the method of content analysis and based on the information available in the waqf letters of the women of the Reza Shah period, the social classes of the waqif women, their intentions regarding the waqf, the amount and variety of endowments, their uses and functions, and the impact of Reza Shah's policies on the status of endowments. Examine women. The research shows that during Reza Shah's period, women from different social classes and with the results of religious research, dedicated part of their property and property, especially agricultural land and residential and commercial property, with the religious function and mourning of imams, but in effect give Reza Shah's anti-religious policies greatly reduced the number of women's endowments.
