Iranian Elites in the Chardin View at Safavid Period (From the End of Shah Abbas the First Till Early of Shah Soleiman)

Abstract

Elites as pillar of society played most important role in the developments. At this research, we analyze the society and its elites with the axis of Chardin itinerary at safavid period. At this period, the elites were divided based on two factors authority and influence. Based on this definition, three types of elites are worthy for essaying such as technocratic elites and some elites who depended on formal structure of government such as Omara, Ashraf (Noblesse) and courtiers. We analyze their psychology and how to get their positions and the factors which had influence in their operation and factors which limited their power. The second section is traditional elites whom they are two group of Tribal leaders (Ghezelbash) and Iranian rulers. These were analyzed their position and operation and factors which attenuator their power and their position. The third group such as religious or idealogical elites whom were divided based on their belief of succession right at absense period. These were divided two groups such as religious undepended elites and religious depended elites. The first group believed that the succession right at the absense period was the Mujtaheds right. The second group of elites besides the Mujtaheds had believed to a justice king. At this paper, we analyze their operation in the society and the challenges which appearance from the first group thought of elites.
