Such an exceptional multi-cultural environment calls for a special consideration. The main focus of this brief survey is on the situation of this multi-cultural region during pre-Islamic periods. Its basic question is that what made it possible for this mosaic environment to tolerate such a colorful culture? From a post-Islamic point of view, it asks that what characteristics have been resulted by this coexistence of various religions and dissents in a situation of toleration and indulgence. This survey is based on an analytical research of a volume of textual data which is gleaned from different library sources and archeological findings. The results of this research show that the pre-Islamic <em>Transoxiana</em> has given birth to an interesting composition of religions and cultures. Due to this dynamic situation, pre-Islamic <em>Tranxoianian</em> civilization has been witnessed to a spectacular cultural efflorescence. These various cultural elements were mixed into a composition so integrated that distinguishing them is something impossible. فرارودان سرزمینی چند‌فرهنگی متشکل از اقوام متعدد و ادیان و آیین‌های زرتشتی، مانوی، بودایی، مسیحیت (نستوری)، یهودی، و باورهای کهن و آیین شمنی بود. در این تحقیق، مسئلة اصلی این است که فرارودان از نظر تنوع فرهنگی ‌ـ آیینی چگونه بود که پیش از اسلام پیروان ادیان و باورهای گوناگون در طول چند سده با تساهل و تسامح در کنار یکدیگر زیستند؟ همزیستی فرهنگی ‌ـ آیینی چه ویژگی‌های منحصر‌به‌فردی برای فرارودان به‌وجود آورد؟ این پژوهش با بهره‌گیری از روش تحقیق تاریخی و مبتنی بر اسناد و مدارک تاریخی و یافته‌های باستان‌شناسی انجام گرفته است. یافته‌های این تحقیق بیانگر آن است که در فرارودان پیش از اسلام تنوع فرهنگی ‌ـ آیینی ویژه‌ای وجود داشت و بر اثر همزیستی این فرهنگ‌ها و ادیان در کنار یکدیگر آمیختگی‌های فرهنگی ‌ـ آیینی پدید آمد. این آمیختگی به حدی است که تمایز عناصر دینی ادیان گوناگون را در آثار هنری و تاریخی برای تاریخ‌پژوهان و باستان‌شناسان دشوار کرده است. https://historicalstudy.ihcs.ac.ir/article_214_66d4ec8f30651ab8bf9ec887b20c1f4b.pdf
